Argomenti

  • Ear Training using a high resolution, mastering quality system in a treated acoustic environment. First, Bob will play examples of some of his own minimalist-miked audiophile recordings and reveal how they were made. You will experience the unique dynamics, impact, tonality, depth and space of high-resolution first-generation recordings, and more important, you will learn how to incorporate their attributes into mixing and mastering all styles of popular music.
  • The Raw and the Cooked: You will have the rare opportunity to hear examples of raw mixes and the masters that they became: Good mixes that were turned into great masters, poor mixes that were turned into good masters, as well as good mixes that were turned into poor masters and why and how that happened.
  • Bring your mixes for evaluation and to see how they might be mastered
  • Assembly of different musical styles of record albums. PQ coding. How DDP masters are prepared, proofed and delivered. How accurate reference copies can now be delivered entirely by FTP.
  • Restoration: the latest techniques to clean up noises, reduce hiss and buzz
  • Dynamics Processing: How and why we choose processes such as compression, expansion, the most efficient way to ride gain. How to restore impact of a song or album when a remix is not possible.
  • Stems: Why stems can be useful. When stems are not a good idea. How stems can be used to produce aggressive masters in hip hop and other aggressive music styles.
  • Specialized mastering techniques: E.G. How to bring a loud vocal down when no stems have been provided and a remix is not possible. Reducing distortion. Bass, the Final Frontier. Specialized tools. How to cut two hours out of your day by using efficient tools and techniques.
  • And much more.

A special Certificate of Attendance will be given to all attendees.
